Scott resides in Racine, and is a volunteer advocate and on the board of directors for BeLEAF Survivors of Racine, He has also recently joined the board of directors of the WCASA organization, and co-facilitates two support groups for NAMI.
Please read Scott's wonderful story below of his time and connection to RMS:
"My earliest very strong memory from RMS was a gift from Ms. Strauss. Our classroom was on the 2nd floor at the DeKoven Foundation. Our library was in the corner of the room. I had found one of those pocket sized Golden Books about space. It completely captured by attention. I checked it out so often that I wore it out. It had to be taken out of the library collection because it fell apart. Not long after, a new copy of the book appeared and I was presented with my own, brand new copy of the book as well. To this day, space. and science fascinate me.
RMS fostered a life long love of learning. Of seeing the wonders of the universe and wanting to know more. And not just more, but the why of what I was learning. I left RMS to attend 4th-6th grade at Milwaukee Monfessori. While there, a group of parents chose to do the work to create a 7th and 8th grade as well. I am proud to be a member of their first 8th grade graduating class.
Years later, my own daughter also attended RMS (now going up to 6th grade).
Seeing a need, another group of parents and myself chose to do the work to add a 7th and 8th grade to RMS. AND my daughter was a member of RMS's first 8th grade graduating class. A circle of life was now complete.
Congratulations RMS on 60 years... Here is to many, many more..."
