Covid-19 Initial Action Plan

Dear RMS Parents,
Whether you received word about school closures yesterday or you woke up to the news this morning, I hope that you are beginning to develop a plan for your family that will bring peace of mind and continued health.  Because of the fluid nature of this situation, I am sure that I will be sending you several updates during the next few weeks and that as a school community, we will be addressing and working through each issue as it arises.
On Tuesday, we will have the school doors open from 10 until 4 pm for families to pick up their children’s materials that have been prepared by their teachers.  The work will be organized in boxes, labeled by classroom and individual student folders and be located in the front hallway. ADOLESCENT work will be located in their classroom and there will be instructions there to guide you. You will also have access to the hallways and classrooms in case you need to collect any of your children’s belongings that were left behind. Both Jane and I will also be in the office if you have something to drop off to us.
Please, if possible, do not bring your children with you. We have been doing a lot of cleaning and the fewer people in the building, the better. Also, I think it would be hard for them to not play with other children that are here at the same time and that is one of the goals of the shut down.
SOME CLASSROOMS WILL NOT HAVE ANY WORK TO PICK UP BECAUSE IT WILL BE AVAILABLE ONLINE ONLY. Unless you have other things to drop off or pick up, you will not need to stop by. I will send a separate email this afternoon or tomorrow with that information as at this time, I am still waiting to hear back from a couple of teachers who are still organizing. Please look for that email before you make the trip over.
I am also attaching to this handout that I received from the City Health Dept. regarding discussions with children about the virus. It may be useful to you as your children begin to ask questions.
I know this is a lot of information and there will be more to come. Please do not hesitate to reply back if you need any clarification or have any concerns.  I will do my best to help you!
Kindly,
Lisa
